* Where two dwell or point gap figures are separated by a slash, the first figure is for engine equipped with dual diaphragm distributors and the second figure is for engines equipped with single diaphragm distributors.

▲ Idle speeds are adjusted with the headlights on, automatic transmission in Drive or manual transmission in Neutral, and the air condition controls (if so equipped) in the Off position. On models equipped with throttle solenoids, the high speed figure is adjusted with the solenoid activated, using the solenoid screw adjustment. The lower idle speed figure on solenoids-equipped cars are adjusted (with the solenoid wire disconnected at the inline connector) with the carburetor idle screws. On models not equipped with throttle solenoids (1970-72 models only), the idle speed is adjusted with the curb idle adjusting screw on the carburetor.

All figures Before Top Dead Center

● Where two idle speed figures are separated by a slash, the first figure is for idle speed with solenoid energized and automatic transmission in Drive, while the second is for idle speed with solenoid disconnected and auto transmission in Neutral. Figures in parentheses are for California.

③ Depends on emission equipment: check underhood specifications.
⑤ Electronic ignition used on all engines assembled after May, 1974
⑥ .044 in. with electronic ignition.
➆  AFR-52_6 for Calif. engines.
NOTE:  The underhood specifications sticker often reflects tuneup specification changes made in production. Sticker figures must be used if they disagree with those in this chart.
