Rear Suspension

I replaced the '65 Mustang K-code 9 in. rear end housing that I had under the car to an 8 in. from a '71 Maverick V8 to gain a much needed inch and a half more tire clearance. The Maverick's 3.00:1 gear was replaced with a new 3.25 gear. The housing was cleaned and painted satin black along with new axle bearings and seals.

New leaf springs with bushings were purchased from McVeigh to replace the worn and broken springs. New 67-70 Mustang spring plates and U-bolts were needed to fit the larger Maverick axle tubes. New rear shackles from Melvin's replaced the old rusty hardware.

A reproduction 65 Mustang GT hose, hard lines and vent hose nipple was used to finish the assembly since the Falcon or Maverick brake hose were too short to reach.

The local driveshaft shop made the 5/8 in. longer driveshaft to reach the 8 in. rear end.

I was telling people that I am the state champion in the wheel hop contest. I can't say that anymore. I modified the '67 Mustang Traction Master making them 30 inches long center to center. The front mount that came with the bars were cut up and drafted to a 3/8 in. plate that is welded to the sub frame connector.
