The pedal assembly was taken apart for bead blasting, repaint, greased and put back together. I came up with my own clutch pedal stop years ago by using a section of nylon round stock. I filed the clutch pedal to accept the nylon assist spring insulator. While taking the '61 parts car apart I noticed a gasket between the firewall and pedal assembly. I'm guessing this suppose to cut down on rattles. I do know my '60 didn't have this gasket. Possible it got dropped on the assembly line floor or maybe a later change. New pedal pads and brake pedal bumper replaced the old rubber.
